GCU holds Blood Donation Camp

Government College University Lahore students and faculty members have donated 207 pints of blood for children suffering from thalassemia at a two-day camp organised by the university’s Blood Donor Society.

The Government College University Lahore students and faculty members have donated 207 pints of blood for children suffering from thalassemia at a two-day camp organised by the university’s Blood Donor Society (GCU BDS) and Fatimid Foundation at the university’s Faiz Seminar Hall. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman visited the camp and appreciated the efforts of GCU BDS. Speaking on the occasion, the vice chancellor called upon the organizers to ensure that the blood was transfused to the thalassemia patients after proper screening as per the best medical standards. He also urged the Fatimid Foundation to provide the donors reports of their blood tests. Talking to students, the vice chancellor also highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation in protecting precious human lives. He also appreciated the donation of blood by the faculty members.

LAHORE: The Government College University, Lahore has produced two doctors of philosophy (PhDs) in the fields of Economics. The GCU Examination Department has issued notifications after approval of theses of Asim Iqbal and Abdul Jalil Khan. Asim Iqbal and Abdul Jalil Khan completed their research on the topics of “Agglomeration Economics, Technical Efficiency, and Productivity in Large Scale Manufacturing Sector of Punjab” and “Exchange Rate Volatility in Developing Countries: implications for Trade and Capital Flows in Pakistan” under the supervision of Dr Wasif Siddiqi and Dr Pervez Azim respectively.
