1,000 children from Pakistan schools take part in Dubai sports tournament

The five-day Worldwide Sports Festival starts on Tuesday and features football, basketball, table tennis and throw ball competitions for boys and girls.
In whole, 1,200 apprentices under the age of 16 will be taking part.

DUBAI: Maximum 1,000 students from schools in Pakistan and across the UAE are taking part in an opening sports tournament that seeks to cultivate and honour draws between the two countries.
The five-day Worldwide Sports Festival starts on Tuesday and features football, basketball, table tennis and throw ball competitions for boys and girls. The rivalry forms part of Pakistan Association Dubai’s continuing Solidarity Celebrations to mark UAE National Day and move to till Friday.

dubaiiThe rivalry is being run in corporation with the Foundation Public School (FPS) in Karachi and is an evolution of the tournament it has run in Pakistan for more than a period of ten years.
The connection between Pakistan and the UAE has always been optimistic and based on joint respect and sympathetic. To rejoice that relationship FPS has prearranged the competition along with Pad and the Ministry of Education’s UAE Interschool Sports Association.
We have about 12 institutes taking part this year but we strategy to make it an annual occasion so positively next time we will get even more schools to take part, said Mr Tirmzi.
In whole, 1,200 apprentices under the age of 16 will be taking part.
We have been running these athletic festivals for about 15 years now in Karachi and they have showed to prove very popular, said Murad Hussein, senior manager at FPS.
The sports festival is one of a number of occasions Pad has planned to mark National Day this year.
On November 21 it will host “Iqbal and National Identity”, which attentions on the importance of national identity in the UAE and is being run with Dubai’s Community Development Authority.
From 26 to 29 November Pad headquarters in Bur Dubai will presenter a food festival featuring Shireen Anwar and Rida Aftab, who anchor a Pakistani cooking show on Masala TV.
Additional 12,000 people are predictable to attend during the course of the event. The main concentration of the festivities will be on the 2km solidarity walk in Bur Dubai on 28th of November, with more than 10,000 people estimated to take part.
